ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES PHASE 2 LINEUP WITH HEADLINERS TIËSTO, SEVEN LIONS, MORE
After the festival's staggering Phase 1 reveal just a few weeks ago, Ultra has now announced a plethora of additional artists for its long-awaited return to Miami in 2022.
Headlining Ultra Music Festival 2022 will be Adam Beyer, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Jauz b2b NGHTMRE, Joseph Capriati, Sasha / John Digweed, Seven Lions, Tiësto, and Vintage Culture b2b Claptone. They join Martin Garrix, Kygo, DJ Snake, David Guetta, and a litany of other dance music superstars announced as part of Phase 1.
When Ultra organizers shared the first wave of artists last month, they announced a special Sunday closing performance from "one of the most iconic artists in electronic music history." Despite today's reveal of over 80 acts, mum's still the word on the elusive artist's identity.
However, no one's name has been thrown around in EDM circles more than Hardwell's. And considering the notion that his iconic 2013 Ultra set is synonymous with the mythos of the festival, there's a good chance he's coming out of retirement for its momentous return next year. The Dutch electronic music icon, who retired from touring in 2018, recently teased a resurgence at this year's Amsterdam Dance Event.
Ultra Music Festival will return to its longtime home of Bayfront Park March 25-27, 2022 and tickets are on sale now. You can purchase passes here and check out the full to-date lineup below.

DAVID GUETTA WINS DJ MAG TOP 100 DJS 2021
The results for the Top 100 DJs 2021 poll have been announced
David Guetta has won the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll 2021. Guetta has retained the No.1 spot that he claimed last year, a decade after he was first crowned the world’s No.1 DJ back in 2011.
The Frenchman now joins an elite grouping of Dutch DJs — Martin Garrix, Tiësto and Armin van Buuren — who have won the Top 100 vote three times or more.
“It’s wonderful, I’m so happy,” David said to DJ Mag about his win. “To do it two times in a row as well — it’s the third time, but two times in a row is pretty crazy. It’s been an incredibly busy year for me, but it’s always nice when you work hard to feel like people can see it.
“I’ve been doing this for so many years, since I was playing funk records as a teenager. It’s amazing to be able to pursue your passion, and I just hope — cos I also started from nothing — that being No.1 after all these years is an inspiration to kids that are bedroom DJs like I was.”
As part of this year’s Top 100 DJs campaign, DJ Mag once again held Virtual Festivals every Saturday and Sunday during the voting period. The streams — which included sets from David Guetta, KSHMR, Timmy Trumpet and Miss K8 — racked up well over 5.7 million views in total.
The Top 100 DJs results were announced live on stage at the Top 100 DJs Awards, presented by AMF, which took place at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live. Guests at the event — and the millions watching the live stream around the world — were treated to performances from Afrojack, Alan Walker, Armin van Buuren (Highest Trance DJ), Avalan, Christina Novelli, Don Diablo (Highest Future House DJ), Carnage/GORDO (Highest Returning DJ), Mariana BO, MORTEN (Highest New Entry), Oliver Heldens and W&W.
Also announced during the Top 100 DJs Award show were two editorial choice awards, selected by DJ Mag’s editors to recognise the contribution of artists making a significant impact outside the scope of Top 100 DJs voting. Japanese artist Qrion — whose rise since debuting on Anjunadeep in 2019 has been meteoric — was presented with the Future Star award. Detroit techno architect Kevin Saunderson — fresh from rebooting his E-Dancer project with a remix album on Drumcode and appearing on the cover of DJ Mag North America — was given the Lifetime Achievement award.
The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected a lot of elements of the international electronic dance music scene, but it doesn’t seem to have dented the enthusiasm of dance music fans — an incredible 1.3 million people voted in the Top 100 DJs poll this year, matching last year’s total, cementing Top 100 DJs position as the biggest music poll in the world.
Most voters in this year’s Top 100 DJs came from prime clubbing age ranges, with 40% of votes coming from 18-24-year-olds and 40% from the 25-34 age range. However, with clubs and festivals still closed or cancelled for most of the year, a lot of participants in the poll clearly based their votes on live-streamed sets or past favourites.

NATIVE INSTRUMENTS RELEASE NEW FREE CHARITY SOUNDPACK FEAT !LLMIND, SOFI TUKKER, MORE
The pack is the next installment in their Community Drive series
Native Instruments has released a new charity soundpack to raise funds for Girls Make Beats, featuring producer !llmind who’s worked with Drake, Ariana Grande and Kayne West, as well as sounds from UK rapper Flohio, vocalist and producer Jamie Lidell, Zola Jesus, Telefon Tel Aviv, SOFI TUKKER and more.
The pack is aimed at raising money and awareness for Girls Make Beats, a charity and initiative started in 2012 by engineer Tiffany Miranda. In a statement, NI said, “Just 2% of music producers and 3% of audio engineers on the Billboard Hot 100 charts are female, according to a study by USC Annenberg, Girls Make Beats is dedicated to creating real-world opportunities to break barriers in the music industry.”
Tiffany Miranda added: “The overall goal of Girls Make Beats is to tie their education and learning to real-world opportunities. I wanted to create an avenue for girls to have access to these fields without facing the challenges I faced, and I'm sure a lot of women in the industry have faced them. I am super passionate about the work we do and really passionate about putting girls at the forefront of music technology.”
NI themselves have also donated $30,000 to the fund. Download it and donate here.
BERLIN TO LIFT RESTRICTIONS ON INDOOR DANCING FOR VACCINATED AND THOSE RECENTLY RECOVERED FROM COVID-19
Nightclubs across the city are primed for a return to something like business as usual
Berlin is the latest major nightlife destination to announce a resumption of indoor music events with dancing following a court ruling to overturn laws imposing heavy restrictions on clubs and other venues. Crucially, though, the decision only relates to those who have been vaccinated or have recently recovered from COVID-19.
Having green-lit outdoor parties on 18th June, the German capital's legendary dance music scene remained unable to fully operate legally. RBB reports that a resumption of inside events is now on the cards after the local judiciary found in favour of the nightlife sector when one venue owner sued the government.
The announcement that the pandemic rules were fair and sensible but "likely to be disproportionate" for those who have been vaccinated or recently recovered was made on Friday 20th August, effectively approving indoor parties for those who fall into either category. Official statistics show that on the previous day there had been 475 new cases of COVID-19 in Berlin. An appeal to reimpose the previous restrictions is possible through the Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg.
Earlier this month, six venues in the city were involved in a series of indoor test events for 2,000 consenting PCR-tested attendees. These took place at Salon Zur Wilden Renate, Kitkat, SO36, Crack Bellmer, Festsaal Kreuzberg, and Metropol. Meanwhile, the Arena nightclub hosted its own series of vaccination parties in early-August, with DJs spinning while clubbers received Pfizer-BioNTech jabs.

DJs can dive deep into the settings of these Fader FX options to change root keys, octaves, and more, crafting a personalized set of tools to take with them to their next performance or battle.
