The singer-songwriter plays a pop star in the new Netflix original movie, "The Magic School Bus Rides Again In the Zone."
In an effort to inspire copious amounts of nostalgia and entertain the younger generation is a new Netflix remake of the popular 90s show, The Magic School Bus.
Released just in time for the holidays, The Magic School Bus Rides Again in the Zone sees the class attend a New Year's Eve concert and learn about timezones. Providing her voiceover and musical talent to the educational program is none other than Lights, who naturally plays the role of the pop star who the class goes to see and later adventures with.
On Twitter, Lights shared a goofy and wholesome video of herself and her family watching one of her scenes from the film. While you'll have to stream the full movie to see her full involvement, the social media footage gives a brief glimpse of one of the musical numbers included.

UKF DUBSTEP REVEALS MOST POPULAR SONG UPLOADS OF 2020

Dubstep fans looking to bang their head into the new year just received a helping hand from one of the most popular YouTube channels in the dubstep scene, who has dropped their list of the top uploads of 2020.
Since its inception in 2009, UKF Dubstep has kept a pulse on the scene, shining a light on the most heavy-hitting and forward-thinking songs the genre has to offer. Their new list, which contains the 32 most viewed uploads in 2020 in bracket form, is a who's who of dubstep's finest. Included in the list are Excision and Downlink's "Resistance," Zeds Dead and REZZ's "Into the Abyss," Au5's "Alien Weapon," and Effin's "Cheese," among others.
And what would a dubstep list be without Virtual Riot? The bass music titan's track "Dream Logic" made the cut, of course. Check out UKF Dubstep's full list below.

US CONGRESS SET TO PASS $15 BILLION SAVE OUR STAGES ACT FOR INDEPENDENT MUSIC VENUES
As of Sunday, Congress has thankfully reached a deal on a $900 billion stimulus bill that will provide urgent aid to those most affected by the pandemic. The hard-hit music industry has been included in the measure via a designated $15 billion package called the Save Our Stages Act. The bill is expected to officially pass in Congress early this week.
Through the provision, independent music venues and movie theaters—along with similar cultural institutions—will become eligible for grants through the Small Business Administration, with awards of up to $10 million earmarked for six months of payroll, rent and other necessary costs. Venues that have lost more than 90% of their annual revenue will be able to apply in the first two weeks before the process opens up to those who have lost at least 25%.
Since the bill was introduced in July by Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and John Cornyn (R-TX), it has garnered the bipartisan support of 57 co-sponsors in the Senate and over 200 in the House. Even more, Sunday's agreement exceeds the original $10 billion proposal, allowing even more small businesses to apply.
“Independent venues were some of the first establishments to close down and will likely be some of the last to open,” Klobuchar said in a statement. “This funding will get small entertainment venues the help they need to make ends meet and serve our communities for generations to come.”
According to the National Independent Venue Association, which formed in March and represents the interests of more than 3,000 entertainment venues and outlets across the country, 90% of "mom and pop" venues surveyed will close in the absence of federal aid.
“We’re thrilled that Congress has heard the call of shuttered independent venues across the country and provided us a crucial lifeline," NIPAS Board President Dayna Frank wrote in a statement Sunday. "We urge swift passage of this legislation, which will assist those in the greatest need and ensure the music lives on for generations to come.”

Kygo's 30-day music production class
If you've ever wanted to learn how to produce dance music from one of the industry's biggest stars, now is your chance. A new Silicon Valley startup called Monthly has partnered with dance music superstar Kygo to offer an end-to-end music production course.
With the promise of producing three release-ready songs in 30 days, Kygo's course is extremely immersive and hands-on. According to Kygo's course page on Monthly's website, patrons are able to learn a slew of music production techniques from the tropical house pioneer. They will learn how he arranges his music, layers his sounds, how he produces and manipulates vocal chops, and the way he programs drums, basses and synths, among other components. Users will be guided through a step-by-step curriculum complete with video lessons, project files, and feedback sessions.
Kygo is one of six new celebrities to launch classes on Monthly, which has a similar business model to popular online education platform MasterClass. Grammy Award-winning OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, Milk Bar founder and MasterChef judge Christina Tosi, award-winning YouTuber and former NASA engineer Mark Rober, prominent LA choreographer Kyle Hanagami, and fabled sneaker designer The Shoe Surgeon have also joined the platform.
PROPOSED LAW COULD MAKE STREAMING COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL ON TWITCH WITHOUT PERMISSION A FELONY
Senator Thom Tillis is sponsoring the effort to make copyright infringement a felony offense for streamers.
In the latest omnibus spending bill making its way through Congress, a provision has been added that would effectively render the streaming of copyrighted music without permission a felony offense.
The provision has been added to the bill by Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina. If passed, the provision would likely land streaming platforms—including Twitch—in more hot water, as the video giant has continued to butt heads with major labels and copyright representatives for much of 2020. This fall, Twitch introduced what they claimed was a fully licensed product called "Soundtrack by Twitch," which purportedly allowed streamers to play music without fear of being issued a DMCA takedown. However, the Recording Academy and the RIAA, among other organizations, rebutted and suggested that the licensing behind the product was not sufficient.
Senator Tillis' provision, if passed, means creators charged with this crime could face jail time. Tillis is the chairman of the Intellectual Property Subcommittee, and according to The American Prospect, his recent re-election campaign was funded by major copyright stakeholders, including major labels. Also included in the bill is the controversial CASE Act, which would create a small claims court within the US Copyright Office to handle copyright disputes. Critics say the bill would give major companies the wherewithal to seek damages from ordinary Internet users.
Mike Lemon, Senior Director of the Internet Association, condemned the idea of including such aggressive provisions in a must-pass spending bill. The association represents a number of big tech players, including Twitch's parent company, Amazon. "Copyright and trademark reform are important policy issues that warrant fulsome, measured debate," Lemon stated. "Jamming such significant measures into a government funding bill is bad policymaking."
ELON MUSK TEASES VEGAS LOOP WITH "TUNNEL RAVE" SET TO THE SOUNDS OF AVICII

As you may know, Elon Musk and his team of engineers at The Boring Company are building underground transportation tunnels in an effort to help speed up local and national travel. While this may lead to a faster way for dance music fans to get to shows across the country, it's what the company recently shared on their Twitter page that should really excite them.
Described as a "tunnel rave," the new video posted by The Boring Company shows off the interior of the tunnel with pulsating, rainbow lights overhead. As heard in the clip, the "rave" is soundtracked by Avicii's iconic dance anthem "Levels." This seems appropriate for the Tesla CEO after he released a dance track of his own back in February 2020. This news is also similar to the Tesla factory rendering he shared back in July, which he revealed may feature "an indoor/outdoor rave space on the roof."
